Future Ghana Tennis Stars

Out of the children who participated in the talent spotting tennis clinics, 25 were selected and invited to come and attend daily training after school by tennis volunteers, encouraging a new generation of young players at the Winneba Tennis Academy.  These children had never had the chance to play tennis before and with each training session were each given their very own donated racket to play with.  Some were so keen they would be eagerly waiting with a huge smile at the tennis courts a few hours before!

Winnebledon Junior Tournament

16 - 18th October 2007

To encourage healthy competition between the new players, we organised a Junior tournament at the National Sports College and named it ‘Winnebledon’ for the boys and girls aged under 12.  We were interviewed about this on Winneba's biggest Radio Station 'Radio Peace' in a 30 minute live slot. Tennis volunteer Kate Leafe brought some sweets to be used as prizes aswell as certificates for the winners. Ace!
